Our Story

Keith and Libby met at a bar in New York City. They literally bumped into each other on the dance floor, while, celebrating the birthday of their mutual friend Mark Hebert, on August 22, 2008. The two quickly learned that what seemed like a coincidental meeting, was really the work of destiny. You see, Libby’s grandmother was Trudy Basile before she met James Agostinelli and became his wife. Trudy had several jobs, but was arguably the proudest about her career as a pizza maker at Giovanni’s and her role as a grandmother. Her priority was staying current on each child’s romantic status. “Does Libby have a boyfriend?” was asked more frequently than not.

It wasn’t until the early hours of August 23 that Libby got to know a little more about Keith. As they shared a round of Blue Moons and crunched the discarded peanut shells on the bar floor under their feet, the two asked each other questions that were pretty standard for a first meeting. To Libby’s surprise and elation, Keith’s answers were far from standard. She learned that his last name was Basile, the same as Trudy’s maiden name, and that his birthday was May 13, one day after her own. (She later learned they we were born exactly 24 hrs apart - to the minute.) At first she didn’t think that he was telling the truth! Keith went on to talk about his family. His father, Tony Basile owned his own pizza shop, Gino’s Apizza, and was quite handy with the dough himself.

Maybe it’s just one big coincidence that Libby and Keith almost share a birthday and that they both come from Basiles who worked in pizza joints. But to Libby it was the moment she learned that fate was, indeed, very real. She knew that Trudy and Tony were still very much alive and that they had some influence in that night’s events. She decided right then that she was going to marry Keith Basile.
